My name is James Lyons and I am the artist whose work you see on this website.

I have been involved with creating art in one form or another for most of my life.

I have worn many different hats in my life artistically. In my various incarnations as an artist, I have done both mechanical and architectural drafting, sculpture, both acrylic and oil painting, watercolor and now, finally, I have entered the realm of digital creation.

I specialize in wildlife art, but I am secretly branching out behind the scenes into fantasy art as well.

My only hope for my work is that it touches someone, I have been accused of having less than thrilling work, but I don't feel that the goal of my work is to be "thrilling". The goal is to transport the viewer to a place that he or she may never get a chance to see in real life, if I can do that, then I have accomplished my goal as an artist.

I have had a lot of encouragement along the way and I sincerely appreciate all the help, be it a kind word or a tip on how to do something better or the support that I have from family and friends!

People often ask me how I create my work so I'll give you a brief explanation, My work is a combination of both 2d and 3d, I will pick out a picture of an animal and figure out what I want to portray with it then I will take the photo of the animal into Bryce and create a 3d environment around it to achieve the look I am looking for. After I get the basic layout, I will render it and then take it into Paintshop Pro or Photoshop to do the real magic on it. I can spend months doing postwork.(I still have a few from 2000 that are in various stages of postwork) But the average time is about a week. After that is complete, it is uploaded here for you to enjoy.

My equipment is as follows: HP 500 mhz Pentium 2 with 319 megs of ram, Wacom Intuos graphics tablet, Polaroid digital camera and a Umax Astra 610P digital scanner.

Software: Bryce 5, Paint shop Pro 7, Photoshop 7, Poser 4, and various other plugins and filters.
